Email: Make it clear

Sometimes I get emails but the person has been so busy telling me about something, they've forgotten to make it clear exactly what they need me to do or give me a time frame.

If you ask someone to review a document make it clear what you want them to do, such as:

  • Review the content in a particular section
  • Check you've used the correct images
  • Check for sensibility
  • Double-check spelling and/or grammar just in case Word's checkers missed something.

And give people timeframes - they can always come back to you if it's not achievable but I personally really appreciate knowing if something is urgent or not.
